Bellriver Homes Awarded for Customer Satisfaction

Bellriver Homes has received recognition for its customer satisfaction at the recent Australian Achiever Awards for Australia’s Architect Services, Building Design, Building Construction and Interior Design Services category.

With a highly recommended score of 98.62% the comments from clients were a significant factor in the result.

Now into its twentieth year, the Australian Achiever Awards are an independent, unbiased award system based on assessment ratings from a business’s own customers – an indication of a well run business where satisfied customers are a sign that a business is healthy, worthy of praise and increased custom.

The award system focuses on seven criteria, each scored separately, namely: Time Related Service, Addressing Client Needs, Care and Attention, Value, Attitude, Communication and Overall Perception. The criteria are rated individually in percentage terms and the final score is an amalgam of these. Anything above 80% overall is regarded as exceptional and reflects outstanding customer service.

Some of the comments Australia Achiever received from Bellriver Homes clients are:

Overall they are brilliant, very professional and provide great customer service. They always kept us informed of everything that was going on and were very friendly. I think they offer the best value for money you can get.

I have had satisfactory experiences with other builders, but Bellriver Homes has been the best. I am a single mum with a child and I thought they looked after me like a valued person, wanted to know my needs, and cared a lot about my service. They never took any shortcuts with the home and I believe the final quality to be excellent. The house is quite stunning, people are amazed when they visit. The people I dealt with were excellent. Thank you.

They have been wonderful with amazing customer service and Kate, in the office, is brilliant. She always keeps us up to date and answers any questions we have as quickly as possible. The supervisor is excellent as well and keeps in contact with us weekly with photos when progress is made – if he can’t call us for whatever reason, he is very apologetic. They really are fantastic.

Making perfect pancakes

What’s the point in having a beautiful and practical Bellriver Homes kitchen if you never use it? We know everyone is busy but Sunday morning breakfast with the family is always a great opportunity to cook and eat together. Try this recipe and post a photo of your Sunday breakfast on our Facebook page. We’d love to see the results!pancake

Ingredients

  • 1 large free-range egg
  • 1 cup of self-raising flour
  • 1 cup of milk
  • sea salt

OPTIONAL:

  • 200 g blueberries
  • olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons natural yoghurt

Method

1. To make the batter, crack the egg into a large mixing bowl.

2. Add the flour, milk and a tiny pinch of sea salt.

3. Whisk everything together until you have a lovely, smooth batter.

4. Fold through the blueberries, if using.

5. Put a large frying pan on a medium heat and after a minute or so, add ½ tablespoon of oil.

6. Carefully tilt the pan to spread the oil out evenly.

7. Add a few ladles of batter to the pan, leaving enough space between each one so they have room to spread out slightly – each ladleful will make one pancake, and you’ll need to cook them in batches.

8. Cook the pancakes for 1 to 2 minutes, or until little bubbles appear on the surface and the bases are golden, then use a fish slice to carefully flip them over.

9. When the pancakes are golden on both sides, use a fish slice to transfer the pancakes to a plate.

10. Repeat steps 5 to 9 with the remaining batter, adding ½ tablespoon of oil to the pan between batches, if needed.

11. Serve the pancakes straight away, topped with a dollop of natural yoghurt, and some extra berries, if you like.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR ROLE AT BELLRIVER HOMES?

There’s a lot of flexibility within the company, and I love its honesty and transparency. The other great thing is that we can approach the company directors and managers directly and we’ve been given the ability as a small company to grow.

WHAT'S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE PEOPLE WHO ARE LOOKING AT PURCHASING A BELLRIVER HOME?

Be prepared for something different with Bellriver Homes. The difference with Bellriver is that we sit down and show you that everything is inclusive. I’ve been in the industry as a builder and a consultant for more than 16 years and with other companies, they give you a base price and then offer everything else as an add-on. At Bellriver Homes, we just offer our customers the end product.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO AFTER A BUSY WEEK OF WORK?

My biggest passion is staying involved with sports, not just my children’s sports but I’ve been involved in rugby league since I was nine years old and I love coaching kids and encouraging them to do the best they can in a team environment. I also love taking my children fishing.

WHAT'S ONE OF YOUR FAVOURITE BELLRIVER HOME FEATURES?

The new designs that Bellriver Homes have created for the Sydney market are great. The Bronte series really excites me, especially the dual-living designs, which offers two living spaces. It gives you everything.

WHAT'S ONE THING THAT PEOPLE OFTEN FORGET TO THINK ABOUT BUT IS ESSENTIAL WHEN DESIGNING A HOME

People sometime forget that a family can change. You may have one child now but another might be around in a few years. Some people have a big family now, but the children could move out in ten years.

People need to also consider the size of land and what they want to achieve with that home. Is this your dream home or a step towards that? Where do you want to be in the next five or ten years?

Unlike cars, where you might own five or ten in your lifetime, you may only build one or two homes. There’s a lot to think about but that’s why we’re here, to help you define your needs and build that perfect home.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT (DISPLAY HOME LOCATION)?

I love that it’s dual-living. We were the first company in Sydney to have a dual-living house on display.

I also love the finishes and that people can touch and feel what they’re getting as part of their home, not just see it in a catalogue.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE SHOP/CAFE IN EDMONDSON PARK AND WHY?

Well, it’s not in the suburb but it’s close by and all the consultants go there. It’s a little café in Leppington owned and run by a little Italian family who are renowned for their coffee. Everyone goes there. So many people pull in there with their coffee cups and give a morning coffee salute!

Are you building for life?

Tips on how to make the most of your aspect.

The aspect of your new home is one of its most important features. It is about the way your home is designed and placed relative to the position of the sun along with considering other environmental features as well. In regional Australia, we experience wide variations between the seasons – with hot summers, cold winters and prevailing winds.

Which way should your home face? You need to ensure the main living areas of your new home face north wherever possible. During winter, the northern sun is lower in the sky, easily streaming through any north-facing glass, making the house bright, light and warm. Because the sun travels higher in the sky during summer, these north-facing windows are protected by the eaves and don’t get so much direct sun, keeping your house cooler.

The south, on the other hand, is often cold and shady. It is the direction most of the cold winter winds come from. This is the side of the home to place the ‘service’ areas and garages, if possible. The eastern sun is lovely in the morning, and it is ideal to have the main bedroom and breakfast area with windows on this side. The west is a little more difficult. Dappled western sun in winter, and even in summer, can be lovely. The danger is that western afternoon sun in summer can be intensely hot. It is best, where possible, to have the alfresco areas facing north. In an ideal world it would be great for outdoor living areas to capture a little western light as well, as this keeps them sunny and light right through to the sun going down. If the outdoor living areas are on the east, they will be in shade at the times that you will use them the most. We would always recommend that outdoor areas are shielded from the south to protect them from the cold winds.

Take these points into consideration before meeting with a Bellriver Homes consultant to discuss the design of your new home or find out more about the building process and how you can build your dream home by reading our free book The Things Most Builders Never Tell You by Bellriver Homes founder David Sandeman. FIVE TIPS FOR A WARM AND EFFICIENT HOUSE

The cold and dark months of winter are the time when we spend more time indoors and turn up our heating.
While your Bellriver Home is designed for year-round comfort, Australia is known for its extreme weather conditions and there are additional things you can do to keep warm in a greener, cleaner way.

1. Watch the temperature
Heat the rooms you are using to around 20ºC in winter, a comfortable temperature for most people. When building your home. Bellriver Homes recommends that heaters have a programmable thermostat in the living area to keep an eye on the temperature. But before you turn up the heat, think of putting on a jumper.

2. Close off any rooms that are not in use
Furniture can't feel the cold so why waste energy heating areas that you're not using? A great way to keep the heat where you want it is to keep the doors to your living space closed. And if your heating system will let you, turn it off in empty rooms.

3. Let it shine!
When sunlight enters a room it is mostly ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which passes easily through glass. Once it hits an object the sunlight becomes infrared (IR) radiation or radiant heat. This doesn’t travel through glass as readily as UV radiation, so your room warms up. To make the most of all this free energy it's a great idea to opening up your blinds and curtains during the day, especially North facing (for the morning sun) and West facing (for the afternoon sun). You might want to leave South facing windows shuttered on especially cold days however, as these don't capture much sunlight.

4. Insulate hot water pipes
Wrap external hot water pipes with simple insulating tape to reduce the heat loss from your hot water tank to the taps, and reduce the energy needed to get your hot water. It can be bought cheaply from your local hardware shop.

5. Focus on people, not your house
It sounds straighforward, but often it's easier to warm yourself rather than your whole house. A warm pair of ugg boots and a snug jumper (or even a onesie) could save you hundreds in heating and energy bills!

Bellriver Homes living areas boast glazed front entry door & internal doors, quality carpet and floor tiles laid throughout, and the windows are fitted with fly screens, keyed alike security locks and wood blinds. Reverse cycle air-conditioning is standard on every home with plenty of other heating options available.
